UHM Classes for Local Theatre Artists
The faculty of the UHM Department of Theatre and Dance invites theatre artists in the community to consider taking advanced classes as a way to add new skills, learn new techniques, and polish existing ones. If you already hold a bachelor’s degree, you can now take individual classes in the UHM Department of Theatre + Dance via the Post-Baccalaureate Unclassified (PBU) Program, without seeking a specific degree. Application deadlineJuly 15 for fall and December 15 for spring.
Fall 2016 offerings include acting realism with Assistant Professor Stacy Ray, a course in acting Shakespeare with Professor Paul T. Mitri, a class on props creation with new Assistant Professor of Scenic Design Michelle Bisbee; a one-month intensive Kyogen mask carving workshop with visiting artist Kitazawa Hideta; a puppetry for young children class perfect for educators; among many others. Admission to all classes pending admission to PBU program and approval by instructor.
Lurana Donnels O’Malley, Director of Graduate Studies in Theatre, says, “The PBU program connects our local theatre creators with other creative artists at UHM and in the community. We invite you to take advantage of the wealth of expertise our faculty and guest artists have to offer.”
