Diamond Head Theatre (DHT) is excited to announce, EVITA, opening on March 24, 2017. Due to strong demand, two more shows have been added to the run: Thursday, April 13 at 7:30 p.m. and Friday, April 14 at 7:30 p.m.
Playing the legendary “Eva Peron” is Jody Bill Bachler and Drew Niles will be playing “Che”, the political activist and narrator. Eli Foster plays "Juan Peron", Natalie Borsky plays “Peron’s Mistress” and David Treacher plays “Agustin Magaldi”.
Evita features music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice and is one of their most successful musicals, as evidenced by its well-known signature anthem: "Don't Cry For Me, Argentina”. The musical is based on the life of Argentine political leader Eva Peron who became the spiritual leader of the nation, rising from nothing to become one of the most famous political figures in the country’s history. It follows Eva’s early life, rise to power, charity work, and eventual death. More than just a modern-day Cinderella story, Evita is a powerful musical about ambition, politics, class, and an overwhelming need for acceptance and love.
Directed and Choreographed by John Rampage with Musical Direction by Emmett Yoshioka, Evita will play from March 24 until April 16, 2017. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Thursday - Saturday, Saturday matinees at 3 p.m. and Sunday at 4:00 p.m.
