In 2016, the Hawaii State Theatre Council and HittingTheStage.com joined forces to create a source of information about Hawaii's local theatres and the community of playwrights, directors, crewmembers, actors, volunteers, and audience that support it. Welcome to our new website!

MVT: Aloha 'Oe, and Welcome

MVT: Aloha 'Oe, and Welcome

Aloha 'Oe,

(April 17, 2017 HONOLULU)  Manoa Valley Theatre bids fond aloha this week to Bree Kale'a Peters, who is leaving the MVT staff after many years of exemplary service to the theatre.  She and her husband are re-locating to the Big Island to a home they purchased last year.

Bree has served MVT in a variety of capacities on both sides of the lights over the past four decades, which includes three separate employment tenures.  She has run the box office, worked in the business office, been production manager, associate producer, and most recently artistic director.  She has also acted on MVT's stage and has guest directed numerous productions including some of the theatre's biggest hits.  Her art, her never ending hard work, and her vision have been integral components to shaping the company and propelling it forward from the ‘70s to the present day.  Her professionalism, her encouragement, and her friendship have nurtured scores of talented individuals whose collective work symbolizes ever-evolving MVT standards.

We are extremely grateful for her longtime service, and we wish her happiness, health and continued success in her future endeavors.  Happily, an upcoming one will be serving as guest director for MVT's March 2018 production of the 2015 Tony Award-winning 'Best Musical,' Fun Home.  Aloha 'oe to Bree.

At this time the theatre welcomes Braddoc DeCaires to its professional staff in the position of Production Manager/Technical Assistant.  Braddoc is a familiar theatrical face around our community.  He has been actively involved with community theatre since 1986 in over 40 theatre productions in Hawaii, Massachusetts and California.  At MVT, he has been an assistant to the director, an actor, a singer, a dancer, a set construction crew member, a technical control board operator, a backstage crew member and a volunteer at a number of MVT fundraising events.

In addition to his theatrical work, Braddoc has held positions in videofilm and television post-production work, home owners association site management, non-profit operations management, and non-profit office management.

We are pleased to have him join the MVT professional team in this capacity.
